I thought it was interesting when we talked about whether AI actually understands language or is just predicting what words should come next. I had never really thought about the difference before. It made me wonder what understanding actually means and how we could tell whether something understands language.

My takeaway from this week was that AI can produce language that sounds incredibly human, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's doing the same thing our brains do. I was especially interested in how we could use brain imaging to compare language processing in humans and AI. I'm curious whether there are any similarities.
